White House Fruit Farm plans food tasting, recipe contest
CANFIELD
White House Fruit Farm on state Route 62 will present “White House Weekend” from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 19 and noon to 5 p.m. March 20.
Ohio food vendors will be providing tasting samples and fresh fruits and vegetables, deli and bakery items, and locally produced maple syrup will be sold.
A highlight of the weekend will be the third annual apple recipe contest.
There will be a $5 entry fee for participation in the contest. The fees and 70 bushels of apples will be donated to Second Harvest Food Bank.
At 1 p.m. March 26 the apple-based desserts will be judged and the three top winners announced. Prizes include cash and apples for a year for first place, and White House gift certificates and a bushel of apples for second- and third-place winners.
Entry forms and rules for the contest are available online at www.whitehousefruitfarm.com or can be picked up at the farm.
Completed contest entry forms, printed recipes and the $5 entry fee can be mailed to White House Fruit Farm, Apple Dessert Recipe Contest, 9294 state Route 62, Canfield, OH 44406 and must be received by March 21.
Nonperishable foods for Second Harvest Food Bank will be collected during the weekend event and through March 26.
