Road crews pump out basements
MINERAL RIDGE
Weathersfield Township road crews pumped out basements of 12 homes after last week’s heavy rainfall.
Trustee chairman James Stoddard said Tuesday that he has sent a letter to the Trumbull County Sanitary Engineer’s office as he collects information to try to resolve problems that may have helped cause the homes to flood.
Aggravating any problems were heavy rainfall and snow melt.
Residents who experienced flooding were located in Mineral Ridge on portions of County Line Road and in the Furnace Street area.
Stoddard said reports are that approximately 24 homes experienced flooding, with a dozen of the homeowners handling the problem themselves.
He said the township has had only a few calls about flooding.
The start-up of the police department’s “Are You Okay?” program to check on senior citizens is temporarily stalled due to Police Chief Joseph Consiglio’s recuperation from recent surgery. But the program is expected to be started soon, Stoddard said.
