POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Girard, Liberty and Hubbard:

GIRARD

March 4

Harassment: An East Kline Street woman reported another woman sent the accuser unwanted text messages.

Harassment: A North Avenue woman told police her grandson made threatening calls to her.

Theft: A West Second Street woman reported a 7-month-old puppy missing.

Recovered property: Officers received a report of a recovered dog that may belong to a Girard resident.

March 5

Criminal damaging: An attic window was broken at a residence in the 200 block of South Market Street.

Arrest: Howland police picked up 33-year-old John Lacue, 28 Wood Glen Ave., Niles, who was wanted on a warrant from the city.

March 6

Criminal damaging: Someone threw a rock, broke a front window to a home in the 100 block of East Howard Street and caused $300 in damage.

Drugs: Authorities responded to a disturbance regarding juveniles in the 400 block of North St. Clair Avenue and said the residence smelled of marijuana. Also found were empty alcohol containers, suspected marijuana pipes and various pills, a report showed.

LIBERTY

March 2

Possible burglary: Someone reported having seen a bearded man leave a home in the 4500 block of Jo Ann Lane through a rear door. Police, however, found no one fitting that description, though a set of keys was missing.

Arrest: Police arrested Jason Womack, 25, of 1425 Forestview Drive, Youngstown, at Mahoning County jail on a warrant from the township.

Burglary: Cleveland police handed 41-year-old Eric G. Payne of Cleveland to Liberty authorities. Payne was wanted on an outstanding warrant.

Identity theft: A Park Circle man discovered someone used his Social Security number in an effort to buy a cell phone.

March 3

Arrest: Police picked up Richard G. Baluch, 50, of 175 Dehoff Drive, Austintown, on a Liberty warrant charging him with failure to appear in court.

March 4

Trespassing: Officers responding to an unwanted person at a Trumbull Avenue business charged 21-year-old Shaniqua R. Silva, 4201 Logan Gate Road, Liberty, with criminal trespassing and resisting arrest when, they said, she refused to leave and failed to cooperate with them.

Arrest: Police picked up a 16-year-old Girard girl on James Lane who was wanted on a township warrant.

Theft/drugs: A theft of clothing at Walmart, 200 Goldie Road, and a foot chase led to the apprehension of 25-year-old Jamie L. Lowe of Ravenna, who police charged with theft, possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia, obstructing official business and resisting arrest. Lowe, who fought with police, had in his possession two glass vials with suspected narcotics and six hypodermic needles, a report said.

March 5

Assault: Harold T. Alexander, 32, of 1715 Wilson Ave., Girard, faced an assault charge after a Townsend Avenue woman reported having been grabbed by the wrists and shoved into a wall.

Arrest: A traffic stop near Green Acres Drive led to the arrest of 27-year-old Jasmine D. Flores, 46 Oxford St., Campbell. Flores was wanted on a warrant and charged with driving under suspension.

March 6

Arrest: Police responding to a vehicular accident on Tibbetts-Wick Road charged 38-year-old Charles Williams, 232 Parkman Road, Warren, with operating a vehicle impaired.

March 7

Arrest: Andre L. Dykes, 33, was taken into custody at his residence, 4118 Monticello Blvd., Liberty. He was wanted on a contempt-of-court charge.

HUBBARD

March 1

Fraud: An Elmwood Drive man reported the unauthorized use of his automated-teller-machine card.

March 2

Theft: A West Liberty Street man reported an Indian artifact stolen from his apartment.

March 3

Theft of services: A North Main Street woman told police neighbors were illegally dumping garbage in her trash bin.

Theft: A boy, no age given, was detained after a shoplifting situation at Walgreen’s Pharmacy, 15 S. Main St.

March 4

Assault: A Jones Street man reported having been assaulted at a North Main Street business.

March 6

Arrest: A traffic stop in the 800 block of West Liberty Street led to the arrest of Robert Jennings Jr., 815 Winona Drive, Youngstown, on a warrant from Franklin County, Ohio, accusing him of failing to appear for trial on two counts of failure to pay court-ordered child support.
