Female officer injured in fight

YOUNGSTOWN

A female Youngstown police officer was assaulted while trying to break up a fight among eight females Thursday evening on the city’s South Side.

One woman, who had an active warrant from Liberty police, was arrested and taken to Mahoning County jail on a charge of assaulting a police officer. Three other women were issued summonses on charges of disorderly conduct. Police did not release any of their names late Thursday.

The fight occurred around 7:35 p.m. on East Boston, and the officer was not seriously injured.
