Don't put away shovels, snow throwers, more snow coming

CLEVELAND (AP) — Forecasters say rain responsible for flooding along northeast Ohio waterways will be turning into snow — possibly in a big way.

The National Weather Service expects wet snow to begin falling on the region late today and possibly carry into Friday afternoon. The forecasters say up to a foot of snow could accumulate, with the heaviest expected near and north of Interstate 76, which runs from the Akron area east to Youngstown and the Pennsylvania line.

Weather service meteorologist Kristen Schuler said today that Cleveland has already received 59.5 inches of snow so far this winter, 6 inches more than normal.

Youngstown’s snow total for the season stands at a record 105.1 inches, nearly 5 feet above normal.
