Dead, sick dogs found in western, Pa. home

KITTANING, Pa. (AP) — State police and animal welfare authorities in western Pennsylvania say dead and severely malnourished dogs were found inside a home over the weekend.

Police in Kittanning in Armstrong County say they went to the home after a 911 call on Saturday.

Humane officer Penny Dewoerhel of All American Ponies Inc. says she seized a dozen Great Danes, three of which were dead.

She says the surviving dogs were living in unsanitary conditions and were taken to a local veterinarian for treatment.

State police said charges were pending against the owner, whose name was not released.
