2 men to be sentenced for operating club without liquor license
YOUNGSTOWN — A father and son will be sentenced May 3 for misdemeanor charges for operating a private club on the South Side last weekend without a proper liquor license.
Spencer Pagan Sr., 54, and his son Spencer Pagan Jr., 33, both of Compton Lane, pleaded no contest to the misdemeanor charge and were found guilty earlier this week in Youngstown Municipal Court.
Judge Robert Milich will sentence them. They each face a possible 30-day jail sentence and $250 fine.
Police say the charge stems from an arrest made at a private motorcycle club in the 3300 block of South Avenue. Reports say police learned via the Internet that a BYOB after-hours party was to be at the club last weekend.
Officers went to the South Avenue address early Saturday morning and determined that there was no liquor license for the establishment, but a woman drinking a beer told police she paid $2 to a bartender for the drink.
Three women were issued citations for consumption of an alcoholic beverage in a public place between Saturday and Sunday.
Reports show that officers issued similar citations for alcohol consumption at the same location Jan. 26. Reports also show that officers found someone in the parking lot of the establishment carrying a firearm.
