Ohio company recalls outdoor fireplaces

STEUBENVILLE, Ohio (AP) — An Ohio company is recalling outdoor wood-burning fireplaces because of a potential hazard.

The recall covers Freestanding Steel Outdoor Fireplaces made by Sunjoy Industries Group of Steubenville and sold last year at Lowe’s retail stores nationwide.

Officials say the decorative bronze powder coat finish on the fireplace chimney can ignite, posing a fire hazard. Sunjoy has received 14 reports of the chimney’s decorative finish catching fire, resulting in melted siding in one case.

No injuries have been reported.
