NHL roundup

Senators 2, Devils 1

NEWARK, N.J.

Erik Condra scored his second goal of the game with 2:17 to play and the Senators stunned the red-hot Devils. Craig Anderson made 31 saves as Ottawa handed the Devils only their third loss in the last 25 games (20-3-2) and temporarily slowed New Jersey’s frantic charge for a playoff berth. Patrik Elias scored for New Jersey, which had a six-game home winning streak snapped and lost a chance to reach the .500 march for the first time since early in the season.

Flyers 4, Oilers 1

PHILADELPHIA

Jeff Carter scored two goals and the Flyers snapped a season-high four-game losing streak. Danny Briere and Blair Betts also scored for the Eastern Conference-leading Flyers. Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 24 shots. Jean-Francois Jacques scored for Edmonton, which is last in the West. The Oilers had won three in a row. The slumping Flyers had seen their lead in the East shrink from double digits to just two points. Coach Peter Laviolette gave the team off on Monday after a 7-0 loss at the New York Rangers. Philadelphia had been outscored 12-1 in the previous two games after taking a 2-0 lead against Buffalo on Saturday.

Panthers 3, Blackhawks 2

SUNRISE, FLA.

David Booth had a goal and an assist and the Panthers held on to end the Blackhawks’ eight-game winning streak. The victory also snapped Florida’s season-high five-game losing streak and gave Panthers coach Pete DeBoer his 100th NHL win.

Islanders 4, Maple Leafs 3

UNIONDALE, N.Y.

Blake Comeau’s tip-in with 57.3 seconds left in overtime led the Islanders. Michael Grabner scored his 27th goal at 8:40 of the third period to give New York a 3-2 lead. But the advantage lasted for just over a minute as Nikolai Kulemin’s crease-crashing score tied it with 10:12 left in regulation.

Canadiens 4, Bruins 1

MONTREAL

Lars Eller scored twice in the first, Carey Price made 30 saves, and the Montreal Canadiens extended their winning streak to a season-high five games. A dangerous hit on Montreal’s Max Pacioretty by Boston captain Zdeno Chara late in the second left the Canadiens’ left wing motionless when he was taken off the ice on a stretcher.

Wild 5, Avalanche 2

ST. PAUL, MINN.

John Madden scored with 9:05 left to break a tie and lift the Wild to a must-have victory. Rookie defenseman Jared Spurgeon tacked on another score less than three minutes later and Kyle Brodziak added an empty-netter to pad Minnesota’s lead, dropping the Avalanche to 2-16-2 since Jan. 18.
