Police say Fla. man beat daughter to death

MIAMI (AP) — Police say a 10-year-old Florida girl was beaten to death by her father a few days before her body was found doused with chemicals in the back of a truck.

Miami-Dade County police said today that Jorge Barahona is accused of punching and beating 10-year-old Nubia Barahona to death on Feb. 11. Her body was discovered Feb. 14 along Interstate 95 in her father's truck along with her twin brother, Victor, who was severely injured with chemical burns.

Jorge Barahona is jailed without bail on first-degree murder and other charges. The twins' mother, Carmen Barahona, is also charged with first-degree murder. She is accused of assisting in the abuse that resulted in Nubia's death.

Police also say the twins were repeatedly beaten, tortured and kept locked in a bathroom.
