Lordstown Cruze production to resume
Staff report
LORDSTOWN
The General Motors Lordstown Complex plans to resume assembly of its Chevrolet Cruze on Tuesday after a parts shortage halted production Friday.
GM officials report significant progress has been made at the affected supplier in Michigan.
As a result, regular Lords-town production will start up with shifts scheduled for the workday Tuesday, said Tom Mock, GM Lordstown spokesman.
At the West plant, production will resume beginning with the third shift reporting at regularly scheduled times tonight with subsequent shifts reporting at regular times.
At the East plant, including Paint and General Assembly (Trim & Chassis), production is scheduled to resume with the first shift at 7 a.m. Tuesday, with subsequent shifts reporting at regular times.
Team members needed to support the start-up will be notified by their leaders. This is subject to change and the employee information line, media and the company’s normal internal communications channels will be updated as needed.
The information line number is 1-800-934-9244.
A fire at Magna International’s Howell, Mich., plant caused Lordstown production to cease at 7 a.m. Friday.
Nobody was injured in the fire, which broke out at about 5 p.m. Wednesday, according to Magna International, an auto-parts manufacturer that supplies headliners for the Chevrolet Cruze.
A headliner is the fabric that lines the interior roof of a vehicle.
