Help Great Lakes Emergency Response Team, which is seeking to meet new goals to help canine search, rescue and recovery, is sponsoring a fundraiser for safety equipment from noon to 5 p.m. March 20 at Christopher Columbus Lodge, 505 S. Liberty Ave. Donors may drop off old, unused cell phones. Larger amounts can be picked up. Call 330-851-3106. There will be a door prize.
TEA Party protest today
The Portage County TEA Party plans to stage a counterprotest from 4 to 6 p.m. today in Ravenna, across from the Ravenna Elks Club, 776 N. Freedom St., where U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan of Niles, State Sen. Tom Sawyer of Akron and State Rep. Cathleen Clyde will have an anti-Senate Bill 5 rally with union workers.
The Portage County TEA Party has made arrangements with the Ravenna Police Department to stay on the sidewalks on the West Side of Freedom Street away from the Elks club where the public officials and union members will rally.

Liberty water break

Township residents who receive Girard water and experienced low water pressure late Sunday can expect the pressure to return to normal this morning after repair of a water main break, a Girard police dispatcher said. The break was reported about 4 p.m. Sunday at Belmont Avenue and Church Hill Road.
Spring festival at Fellows

The annual Plant the Seed to Read Book Festival will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 26 at Mill Creek MetroParks Fellows Riverside Gardens.
The free family event includes storytellers, illustrators, book characters, celebrity readers and other activities for children. Attendees also have the opportunity to have pictures taken with the Cat in the Hat. Every child will receive a free book.
