‘I Was a Teenage Feminist’ leads off women’s history month events

Readings, film screenings and an art show are among the highlights of Youngstown State University’s celebration of Women’s History Month in March.

Organized by the university’s Women’s Studies program, the events emphasize women’s achievements throughout history. Among the events:

Thursday, 4 p.m., “I Was a Teenage Feminist,” film and discussion, Room 132, DeBartolo Hall auditorium.

Thursday, 7 p.m., Etruscan Press and the YSU Poetry Center present Claire Bateman and Nin Andrews, Ohio Room of Kilcawley Center.

March 22, 3:30 p.m., Youngstown Reading Series presents Rebecca Barnhouse, Peaberry’s Caf in Kilcawley Center.

March 22, 4 p.m., Anthropology Colloquium and YSU History Club present Christa Craven, “Reading the Lives of Black Midwives,” location to be announced.

March 23, noon, YSU History Club presents Patricia Sarro, “Queens and Goddesses: Women in Mayan Art,” Cochran Room of Kilcawley Center.

March 23, 4 p.m., Women Leading the Community, McKay Auditorium in Beeghly Hall.

March 25, 6 p.m., Women’s History Month Art Show, Channing Hall,First Universalist Unitarian Church of Youngstown, 1105 Elm St.

March 30, noon, YSU History Club presents Marcell Wilson, “Loyalist Women,” Room 2068, Kilcawley Center.

March 30, 4 p.m., “Until the Violence Stops,” film, Room 132, DeBartolo Hall auditorium
