Poland senior selected for all-state choir

Dominic Iudiciani, a senior at Poland Seminary High School, recently returned from Cincinnati where he performed at the Ohio Music Educators’ Association Conference in the All-State Choir.

Students from all over the state were chosen from auditions they submitted after being nominated by their choir directors.

There were more than 1,000 applicants from which the 160-member choir ensemble was ultimately formed. Iudiciani was the only student representing Mahoning County.

He said it was “one of the most rigorous selections of music” he has ever been challenged with, but well worth the time spent preparing.

The choir members rehearsed for five full days beginning in November with two regional rehearsals and a full choir rehearsal in January at Ohio State University.

Iudiciani said singing with conductor James Henry was a real honor. Henry is an instructor, composer and performer from the University of Missouri-St. Louis who met the group for two full days of rehearsals before the event.

Iudiciani performs with the Seminary Singers and is a member of the Madrigal Singing group. He also sings with the Poland Presbyterian Chancel Choir and has performed at banquets and weddings.

He has the lead in the school spring play “Guys and Dolls “to be presented in April. He is the son of Pat and Theresa Iudiciani.
