A ribbon cutting for the new elementary school in Hubbard Exempted Village School District will be in late April or early May.

Cost: About $14.6 million.

Classrooms: The 36 new classrooms feature SMART Boards that use interactive computer technology. Each classroom is about 1,200 square feet.

Special features: A courtyard with amphitheater will provide an outdoor classroom. The design also allows for more natural light in surrounding classrooms. There are dedicated art and music rooms and a library. For physical education, there is a gym with synthetic floor, and it seats 200. There also is a large cafeteria with a bank of windows.

Security: Visitors must be “buzzed in” through the school office. Cameras will monitor hallways.
