Community members and school employees are invited to a fiscal state of the schools presentation at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the K-12 complex auditorium.

School board members and administrators will answer questions relative to school funding and how the projected financial forecast will impact South Range Local Schools.

Discussion topics may include revenue vs. expenditures, open-enrollment consideration and program modifications.

United Local Schools’ kindergarten registration for the 2011-12 school year will begin with a parent orientation at 6 p.m. March 28 in the elementary school cafeteria.

The meeting is for parents only, and information will be shared, registration packets distributed and appointments made for screenings, which will be April 12-14.

Children who are residents of United and who will be age 5 on or before Aug. 1 are eligible to attend kindergarten for the upcoming school year.

Documents needed for screening, along with the completed registration packet, are a parent’s driver’s license or photo identification and proof of residency, the child’s birth certificate, immunization record, Social Security card and custody papers, if applicable. Parents may call the elementary school office at 330-223-8001 with questions.

The city school district will be accepting applications for open enrollment for the 2011-12 school year. Applications will be accepted for students entering first, second, fifth, ninth, 11th and 12th grades.

Applications may be picked up beginning Monday and must be returned by April 1. Applications are available in the superintendent’s office at 704 E. Prospect St. from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays.

The city schools have designated Monday through Thursday for kindergarten registration. Children’s last names beginning with A-L will register Monday and Tuesday. Those with last names beginning with M-Z will register Wednesday and Thursday.

All registrations will be from 9:15 to 11:15 a.m. and from 1:15 to 2:15 p.m. at the elementary school.

Parents or guardians must provide birth certificate, Social Security card, custody papers if applicable, parent identification and three proofs of residency. State shot requirements are for five D.P.T., four polio, two MMR, three doses of hepatitis and two varicella.

A screening program will be scheduled. To register, the child must be 5 years old before Sept. 30.

Roosevelt Elementary will have a kindergarten roundup from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday in the main office at the school. Paperwork can be obtained and filled out at that time.

The Liberty Local School District will schedule kindergarten registration for the 2011-12 school year. Registration packets may be picked up between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Monday through Friday at the elementary school.

Registration appointments may be scheduled at time of packet pickup or by calling 330-759-1053. Registration will be March 7-25. To register, children must be age 5 on or before Sept. 30. Anyone registered by March 25 will be invited to an open house in the spring.
