The Canfield High School baseball organization hit it out of the park at its annual chicken and pasta dinner fundraiser Feb. 20 at the St. Michael Family Life Center. The baseball teams’ parent booster club, the Diamondbackers, organized the event.
According to Joe Reinthaler, president of the Diamondbackers, the organization expected to serve 700-750 dinners.
“We have received a lot of support from the community, from friends and families of the players, to members of the local community. We appreciate their support,” Reinthaler said.
Members of the Canfield Cardinals baseball teams were busy helping with the dinner, including working in the kitchen, bussing tables, filling carry-out orders and washing dishes.
Attendees could choose from chicken, pasta, meatballs, potatoes, green beans, salad, bread, dessert and beverage.
This event is the organization’s biggest fundraiser of the year. Proceeds are used to sponsor the team’s spring trip to Myrtle Beach, uniforms, transportation to games and providing food for the team when they travel.
A 50/50 raffle was also available, along with a Chinese auction and silent auction. The team also sold Canfield Cardinals baseball T-shirts.
Local businesses and individuals donated items for the Chinese auction, including Adamas Jewelry and Gifts, Tudor Physical Therapy, Inner Circle Pizza/Karen Meyers Naffah, Family Video/Cathy Carelli, Taste Buds/Nick D’Alisio, Davidson’s Restaurant, Do-Cut True Value Canfield, Magnolias on the Green Salon/Carolyn Cruz, Stacey Studios and the freshman, sophomore, junior and senior classes.
Kaleel Brothers donated the produce for the dinner and St. Michael’s donated the use of the facility.
