Pa. airman injured in Germany shooting

The parents of a U.S. airman from western Pennsylvania say he was shot twice but survived a deadly attack on a bus at a German airport.

Irwin resident Kenneth “Bruce” Schneider tells the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review that 25-year-old Kristoffer Schneider is stable after being shot in the back and in the head.

Paula Schneider tells the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette her son was undergoing surgery Thursday on one of his eyes.

Two of the four people shot died. A suspect, Arid Uka, is in custody.

German officials said Thursday the 21-year-old temporary worker with the postal service has admitted targeting Americans when he opened fire with a handgun on a busload of 15 U.S. airmen at Frankfurt’s airport on their way to deployment in Afghanistan.
