Police investigating two armed robberies

Police are investigating two separate armed robberies, one with a shooting, on the city’s East Side.
A 53-year-old Kendis Circle woman told police two armed men robbed her of her purse as she walked across a parking lot not far from her home Wednesday morning.
The woman told police she was walking across the parking lot shortly after midnight when the two men ran from around the corner of her building. One of the men pointed a gun at her and demanded she drop the Pittsburgh Steelers purse she had been carrying.
The woman said she dropped her purse containing about $800, a debit card and personal papers. One of the men picked up the purse, and both ran away from the area. The woman was not injured.
Police also are investigating the robbery of a food-delivery driver.
Reports say the 20-year-old delivery man was attempting to deliver an order of Chinese food to an address in the Plazaview Apartments just before 10 p.m. Tuesday. The driver told police he arrived at the address shortly after calling to confirm the food order and was met outside by an unidentified black man about 30 years old.
The thief pulled out a gun and demanded the driver’s money, The driver said the thief took $50 and became distracted giving the driver time to try to take gun, but he was not successful.
A second man came to the vehicle and took the food and the driver began to run away. One of the men fired two shots at him as he ran, according to the report.
One man jumped into the delivery man’s 1994 Jeep and drove away. The other man ran away. The driver was not injured.
