POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Hubbard, Girard and Liberty:

HUBBARD

Feb. 24

Theft: An employee of Nadia’s Family Restaurant, 322 W. Liberty St., reported the theft of checks.

Theft: The front license plate was removed from a car in the township.

Fraud: A Wendemere Drive woman reported three business checks were stolen and forged.

Feb. 25

Damage: An East Park Avenue man said juveniles broke several tree limbs on his property.

Theft: A cashier with Devine’s Shop ‘n’ Save, 529 N. Main St., reported having been shortchanged.

Feb. 26

Theft: A worker for Subway, 544 W. Liberty St., told police a customer short-changed her.

Recovered property: A Clingan Street man found a laptop computer a woman had reported stolen.

Feb. 27

Damage: An Orchard Avenue woman reported a plow placed snow on her property, damaging some spruce trees.

GIRARD

Feb. 25

Possible theft: A Beechwood Drive woman reported her driver’s license lost or stolen.

Criminal damaging: A truck in the 100 block of East Wilson Avenue was found with a broken driver’s-side window.

Identity fraud: A Lincoln Avenue man learned someone had used his personal information to make a $30 unauthorized charge to his account.

Domestic violence: Ricco Acevedo, 33, of 1061 Patricia Drive, Girard, was charged with the crime after Acevedo’s girlfriend alleged that while lying down, Acevedo picked her up by the neck and threw her to the ground, then bit her cheek.

Feb. 26

Trespassing: Police charged 66-year-old Joseph C. Barker of McCleary-Jacoby Road, Cortland, with criminal trespassing after a Patricia Drive woman reported her former boyfriend had been on her property.

Theft: Police charged John J. Lacue, 33, of 28 Wood Glen Ave., Niles, with stealing three steaks from Santisi’s IGA Super Center, 419 N. State St.

Feb. 27

Burglary: To an apartment in the 30 block of Broadway Avenue, from which two TVs and a Sony PlayStation 3 system were stolen. The loss came to $1,500.

LIBERTY

Feb. 23

Arrest: Police took custody of 20-year-old Timothy M. Tonkinson, 532 Sycamore Drive, Campbell, on a warrant charging him with receiving stolen property.

Auto theft: A 2003 Buick vehicle was stolen in the 100 block of Euclid Boulevard.

Theft: A worker for Belleria Pizza & Italian Restaurant, 5718 Belmont Ave., reported someone phoned in a false order for $59 worth of pizza.

Domestic violence: A 16-year-old township boy was charged after a cousin alleged he had punched her while on a school bus, then punched and threw her to the ground after the two got off.

Arrest: Jerwanda M. Atkins, 19, no address given, surrendered to police on a charge of failing to appear in court to face a theft count.

Drug paraphernalia: KarmarnixtN. Burt, 41, of 210 Bouquet Ave., Youngstown, was picked up at the Mahoning County jail on an outstanding charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Feb. 24

Vandalism: A Pinecrest Road man noticed someone had used a key to scratch and cause $1,000 in damage to his truck’s driver’s side.

Arrest: Authorities picked up 49-year-old Angela M. Orr, 51 Lemans Drive, Boardman, in Youngstown on a township warrant.

Aggravated menacing: A Fairlawn Avenue woman and another person reported a man called threatening to burn down their homes and beat them up.

Harassment: A worker for a Belmont Avenue business said her former boyfriend made repeated threatening calls to her cell phone.

Counterfeit: A man passed what appeared to be a phony $20 bill at a Speedway gas station, 4210 Belmont Ave.

Feb. 25

Arrest: Police responded to a vehicle stuck near Logan Way, then took into custody 35-year-old William F. Watson, 1324 Gray St., Youngstown. He was wanted on a warrant from Struthers.

Arrest: Officers arrested Roberto Yates, 27, of 1702 Elm St., Youngstown, during a traffic stop on Belmont Avenue after learning Yates was wanted on a contempt-of-court charge.

Theft: Witnesses reported seeing a 38-year-old Girard man remove a set of aluminum steps from a residence in the 30 block of Marla Lane.

Counterfeit: Jarrel D. Freeman, 23, of 741 Broadway, Youngstown, faced a felony criminal-simulation charge after being accused of passing a fake $100 bill at a Shell True North gas station, 3990 Belmont Ave. It was a $5 note that had been reprinted to look like a $100 bill, a report said.

Harassment: An East Park Circle man reported getting several such calls.

Feb. 26

Theft: The rear license plate was stolen off a car in the 1600 block of East Liberty Street.

Domestic violence: John E. Fletcher, 50, was arrested at his home, 15 Holly Drive, Girard, and charged after a family member alleged he had grabbed and thrown her across a room.

Feb. 27

Arrest: Shakina J. Darden, 33, of 29 Third St., Campbell, was arrested at the Mahoning County Jail on a township warrant.

Domestic violence: Authorities charged 20-year-old Timothy J. Hatcher and Ashley M. Walker, 24, both of 4006 Monticello Blvd., Liberty, with the crime after saying each was in an altercation with the other.
