The Youngstown Charter Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association had its monthly meeting recently at Rusty’s Restaurant, and the hostess was Patti Coogan.
Cathy Pokrivnak, president, opened the meeting with the invocation and Pledge of Allegiance.
The scholarship winner, Katelyn Gould, took a guest, her mother, Mary Gould, both of Campbell. Gould is an honor student at Youngstown State University seeking a bachelor’s degree in fine art (painting).
Pokrivnak presented her with the scholarship check. Gould spoke to the group about her plans to continue on with her education in pursuit of her goal of eventually teaching art at the college level. Gould also gave each member a handwritten note of thanks.
The Youngstown Charter Chapter of ABWA was founded in 1954. Over the past 50 years this chapter, along with sister chapters in the tri-county area, have raised and donated more than a half-million dollars to local college students.
The ABWA Council Annual Fall Fashion Show helps to fill the scholarship funds of several chapters. Early bird tickets are available.
