Police to charge Pa. woman with 'collar' rape hoax
UNIONTOWN, Pa. (AP) — State police say a western Pennsylvania woman made up a report that she was bound with a dog collar, cut with a razor, beaten and raped last month.
Trooper Heather Clem of Uniontown says 30-year-old Leah Dawn Saluga has entered an unspecified “treatment” program and will be charged with making a false report to police on Feb. 20.
Police say Saluga claimed she was raped by a man dressed in women’s clothes who was walking his dog in a wooded section of Luzerne Township, Fayette County.
Saluga says the man used the dog’s collar to bind her then cut the words “dog killer” into her arm during the attack. Police say Saluga acknowledged making up the incident and cutting herself with the razor.
Police say Saluga gave reasons for the deception, which police wouldn’t describe.
