Jobs, on medical leave, appears at iPad event
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Apple CEO Steve Jobs, who has been on indefinite medical leave, is making an appearance as he unveiled a new iPad in San Francisco.
Jobs walked on stage to standing ovation. Jobs looked frail, wearing his signature black mock turtleneck, blue jeans and wire-rimmed glasses.
Apple is unveiling the second generation of its iPad at Wednesday’s event. Jobs told the audience, “We’ve been working on this product for a while and I just didn’t want to miss today.”
The new device has two cameras for taking photos and video chatting. It has a faster processor. It’s also thinner — 8.8 millimeters instead of the current 13.4 millimeters.
He says, “the new iPad 2 is actually thinner than your iPhone 4.”
