Court martial in Wash. over Afghanistan misconduct
JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD, Wash. (AP) — A court martial is under way at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington state for a soldier accused of misconduct in Afghanistan.
Twenty-two-year-old Spc. Corey Moore of Redondo Beach, Calif., is accused of using drugs, beating up a whistleblower and stabbing a corpse. If convicted he could face more than 11 years in prison.
The court martial had been set to begin Tuesday but was postponed.
Moore is one of a dozen 5th Stryker Brigade soldiers accused of crimes in Afghanistan. Five are charged with murder in the deaths of three Afghan civilians.
