19-year-old man charged with sex assault at Pa. ski area

CHAMPION, Pa. (AP) — A Johnstown man has been charged with sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl at a western Pennsylvania ski resort.

Nineteen-year-old Anthony Raco is free after posting bond after his arraignment Tuesday on charges including involuntary deviate sexual intercourse stemming from an incident Feb. 23 in a parking lot at Seven Springs Mountain Resort in Somerset County.

Police say the girl was on a school skiing trip when she met Raco and walked to his car to retrieve a pair of boots.

Police say Raco invited the girl into the vehicle to stay warm and then drove to a secluded parking area where he allegedly assaulted her.

Raco’s attorney, Art McQuillan, says there was consensual contact between the parties and that issue will be raised as the case proceeds.
