Mahoning township association appoints committee members


CANFIELD

At its recent business meeting, the Mahoning County Township Association appointed several people to serve on its committees.

Following are the 2011 committees and the names of those serving on them:

Nominating committee: Sandie Brown of Berlin, Dave Mannion of Smith and Artie Spellman of Ellsworth.

911 and HazMat: Larry Wehr of Beaver and Jason Young of Berlin as alternate.

Solid Waste/Green Team: Bob Orr of Springfield.

Board of Health District Advisory Council: Mannion, president, and Jodi Kale of Berlin, secretary.

WRTA: Lee Kohler and Steve Gondol.

Screening Committee for board of health: George Toy of Green, Ted Lyda of Beaver and Bob McCracken of Goshen.

Canfield Fair Committee: Patti Gibson of Springfield.

EPAC (Environmental Planning Advisory Committee): Lyda.

EMA (Emergency Management Agency): McCracken.

The association’s annual meeting with Matt Stefanak, health commissioner, gathers the chairmen of the townships of MCTA, which make up the townships’ advisory council.

The DAC meets once a year with the health commissioner to appoint candidates to fill those positions that may be up for reappointment on the board of health and licensing council, as well as to receive the annual report from the health commissioner and provide recommendations for health and sanitation in the district.

In addition to the chairmen of MCTA, the DAC includes the chairmen of the villages of Beloit, Craig’s Beach, Lowellville, New Middletown, Sebring, Washingtonville and Poland, as well as the Mahoning County commissioners.

MCTA officers are Lyda, president, Orr, vice president; Kale, secretary; Gibson, treasurer; and Gerry Backo, committeeman.

The association comprises and represents the township trustees and fiscal officers of Mahoning County. The townships are: Austintown, Goshen, Beaver, Green, Berlin, Jackson, Boardman, Milton, Canfield, Poland, Coitsville, Smith, Ellsworth and Springfield.
