Columbiana Co. gets $800,000

COLUMBUS
The state Controlling Board released more than $800,000 for three construction projects in Columbiana County.
The lawmaker panel approved $507,500 to purchase property and complete construction on a new Columbiana County Department of Job and Family Services building in Lisbon.
The entire project, including a two-story building with a finished basement, will cost $9.3 million, and the county is borrowing funds to cover the balance, according to documents.
The new facility will house county JFS offices, child-support enforcement, child-protective services, the election board, veterans services and the Mahoning-Columbiana Training Association, according to documents.
Also Monday, the Controlling Board released $294,000 for a new mine- rescue vehicle building at the Ohio Department of Natural Resources’ district office in Salem.
The funds will go toward the construction of a 2,160-square-foot, single-story garage, with office and storage space, restrooms and a laboratory area, according to documents.
Classical Construction of Apple Creek, Ohio, Ellyson Plumbing & Heating of Alem, Ohio, York Mahoning Mechanical Contractors of Youngstown and Geller Electric of Canfield will handle the work.
Additionally, state lawmakers released $29,600 for engineering services related to emergency repairs to a dam in the Highlandtown Wildlife Area.
