Small Ships Revue returns

SHARON, PA.

Quaker Steak & Lube’s annual Small Ships Revue returns this Friday with an opening parade at 6 p.m.

At 7 p.m., the flotilla of wacky homemade watercrafts will be launched on the Shenango River downtown.

More than $5,000 in cash and prizes, including a $1,000 grand prize, will be awarded to the ship builders who create the most imaginative ships.

The post-launch festival will begin at 8 p.m. with Graphic Pink on the main stage and Pipe Dreams at the Sugar Shack, at Quaker Steak and Lube.

A giant fireworks display will cap the event at 10:15 p.m.

The following roads will be closed for the parade from 6 to 7 p.m.: State Street from Railroad Avenue to the State Street bridge; Shenango Avenue from State Street to Silver Street; Pitt Street from Shenango Avenue to Railroad Avenue; Silver Street from Railroad Avenue to Penn Avenue; and Penn Avenue from Silver Street to Rose Court.

From 7 to 11 p.m., the following roads will be closed: Chestnut Street from East Connelly Boulevard to the entrance of the Chestnut Street public parking lot; Connelly Boulevard from Railroad Avenue to Sterling Avenue; and Water Avenue from Connelly Boulevard to the City Center parking-lot entrance.
