Blood needed
CLEVELAND
The American Red Cross Northern Ohio Blood Services Region said it is unable to fill all hospital requests in a timely manner and said more blood donors are urgently needed, particularly with the long July 4 holiday weekend approaching.
All blood types are needed, but Types O, A and B negative are particularly in short supply, said Christy Chapman, communications manager for the Northern Ohio Region.
“Typically we see an increasing need for blood over the upcoming holiday weekend. With more highway travel and outdoor activities, there are more occasions for accidents and injuries requiring blood. It’s the blood on the shelves that helps save lives, so we are asking people to please donate before this weekend,” Chapman said.
To make an appointment and for information and how to donate, contact the Red Cross at 1-800-733-2767 or visit online redcrossblood.org.
