Yo-Mah-O’s new officers prepare to take the reins

CANFIELD

The Yo-Mah-O Chapter of the International Association of Administrative Professionals installed officers for the 2011-2012 term on June 14 at A La Cart Catering.

Joan Giba conducted the ceremony, assisted by Mary Hake. Officers seated were Sue Urmson, president; Suzette Gibbs, vice president; Patricia Cearfoss, secretary; Denise Altman, treasurer; and Patricia Ross, assistant treasurer. Serving as parliamentary adviser will be Lynn Romeo.

Urmson joined the chapter in 2003 and has served as recording secretary and vice president. In addition to serving on and chairing numerous committees, she achieved the Certified Administrative Professional certification. She is employed by Youngstown State University as a secretary in the Dana School of Music.

Opencar

The chapter awarded one scholarship of $1,000 to Nicholas P. Opencar. He is a 2011 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School. Opencar was a class valedictorian with a 4.0 grade point average and a member of the National Honor Society. He has been accepted at Kent State University, where he will be majoring in operations management. Nicholas is the son of Nick and Stella Opencar of Campbell.

The chapter has been awarding scholarships since 1951. It has awarded more than $30,000 in scholarships since 2000 to area students studying in the field of business.
