OSHP seizes 20 pounds of suspected weed during traffic stop

MEDINA, Ohio —Two women face felony drug charges after Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers seized 20 pounds of suspected marijuana, valued at more than $45,000, during a traffic stop Monday in Medina County.

Troopers stopped a 2011 Ford Fusion, with Arizona registration, for a marked lanes violation on Interstate 71, at 1:21 p.m. Criminal indicators were observed and a patrol drug-sniffing dog alerted to the vehicle. A probable-cause search revealed 20 pounds of the suspected drug.

The driver, Rachel Cuevas, 38, of Glendale, Ariz., and passenger, Carol Solomon, 26, of Cleveland, were charged with possession of marijuana, a third-degree felony.

Both suspects were placed in the Medina County Jail. If convicted, both could face up to five years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine.
