Inmate stabbed to death at Ohio prison

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio (AP) — Authorities say an Ohio prison inmate serving time for attempted murder and other charges has been stabbed to death by another inmate in an outdoor recreation area.

Prisons department spokesman Carlo LoParo says 28-year-old Natuan Williams was stabbed Monday morning at Ross Correctional Institution in Chillicothe. An Ohio State Highway Patrol report says the victim was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

LoParo says Williams was admitted to the prison from a Cleveland court in 2003 and was serving an 11.5-year sentence. He says the name of the alleged assailant is not being released unless criminal charges are filed.

The prison has about 2,200 inmates at security levels ranging from minimum to maximum. LoParo says inmates were locked down in cells after the stabbing Monday. The prison was operating normally today.
