Closing in

Ever get the sense life is closing in on you?

On the Par 5 No. 2 hole at Tippecanoe Country Club, you’ll get that feeling.

This uphill-to-downhill hole is spacious off the tee. But its trees and fairway slowly close in on you over the second half of the hole.

The slight uphill off the drive and a bunker will limit your drives. Any downhill gains to the green are offset by trouble you can find with bunkers and only one bail-out area. The green’s undulations are constant — with more lefts and rights than a Sunday drive in Mill Creek Park.

Or ... you could play the hole how club champ Scott Porter did. Scott is set to compete in the 2011 Greatest Golfer of the Valley tourney with his brother, 2010 Greatest champ Mike Porter.

Scott conquered the Par 5 in two shots a few years back — a drive of 330ish yards, followed by a 3-iron from 237 yards.

A double eagle.
