ANTIQUES SHOWS

The 47th Annual Salem Kiwanis Club Antique and Craft Show is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 16 at Centennial Park, off Pershing St., in Salem. Antiques dealers from around the region will have displays, and there will be food vendors selling refreshments. A local dulcimer club will perform beginning at 1 p.m. Admission is free. Proceeds will benefit local children and youth programs in the community as well as Salem High School’s Key Club. For more information call 330-332-7748.

ART SHOWS

Art on the Hill 2011 is seeking artisans and food vendors for its July 9 show in Mantua. In addition to the art displays and sales, the daylong event includes continuous live entertainment and food. CRAFT SHOWS

Shepherd of the Valley — Niles is seeking vendors for its craft show, planned for 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. July 9. To reserve a table or for more information call Kim Osborn, Shepherd of the Valley-Niles Activity Director, at 330-544-0771, ext. 2841. Funds raised support resident activities.

FESTIVALS/FAIRS

Beaver Creek State Park’s Village Comes Alive Celebration will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at The Pioneer Village, 12021 Echo Dell Road, East Liverpool. Volunteers from Friends of Beaver Creek State Park, with the help of public donations, provide activities of the village. The village is open every weekend. At the monthly Village Comes Alive Celebration, Mike Newbold, the artisan blacksmith, will create items; Pam Mallon will teach in the log cabin school; Debbie and John Sciance will greet visitors to the Victorian Williams home; Marge Hepburn will weave in the grist mill; and Keith Sevy, Jim Vorhees, Wayne Duris and Wayne Jr. will handle grist mill grinding. The trading post sells water, soda, ice cream, snacks, walking sticks, ready-to-use fishing poles, stone-ground buckwheat, corn, flour and much more. Paradise United Church of Christ is sponsoring a lawn festival from 4 to 7 p.m. July 16. The church is at 10020 New Buffalo Road, Canfield, one mile south of Western Reserve Road. Featured will be food, a bake sale, raffle baskets, a country store and activities and games for all ages.

SALES

First Presbyterian Church, 201 Wick Ave., will have a large rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 9. Household and furniture items, sewing and quilting materials, 45 and 33 records and players, crafts and books are some of the many items for sale. Between 8 and 9 a.m., coffee will be served, and lunch items will be available for purchase. Free parking is available behind the church

Goodwill Stores in Austintown, Boardman, Calcutta, Hermitage, Liberty, New Castle, Salem and Warren are open Monday through Sunday and feature 50 percent off donated merchandise sales the last Friday and Saturday of each month. The stores sell clothing, furniture, household items, books, home decor items, electronics and new goods. Purchases help to fund job training and employment services to people with disabilities and other barriers to employment in the community. Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore, 480 Youngstown-Poland Road, Struthers, is open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The ReStore carries a wide variety of building materials, including doors, windows, sinks and hardware, wood products, flooring, plumbing, electrical and lighting, appliances, electronics, furniture and home decor items. All items are sold at low discount prices.

TRIPS

Trumbull County Travel Club is sponsoring a two-day, one-night excursion to Shipshewana, Ind., Aug. 12 and 13. The tour combines quilts and 100,000 annuals in high bloom and includes lodging at Das Dutch Essenhaus, where quilts will be displayed; a lunch stop at the Davis Mercantile Complex, with shopping at Lolly’s and Yoder’s fabric stores; dinner and a live show to see the “Ring of Fire,” a tour of the Heritage Trail Gardens by a local master gardener; and a mystery stop on the way home. Youngstown Chapters of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., Epsilon Mu Omega and Delta Delta are sponsoring a bus trip to Washington, D.C., Aug. 27-28 to the dedication ceremony of Martin Luther King Jr.’s National Memorial. The bus will depart at 7 a.m. Aug. 27 from McDonald’s on Belmont Ave. and will depart Washington for Youngstown at 4 p.m. Aug. 28. Prices are $150 per person/double occupancy, $75 for those 12 and under, $195 for single occupancy. Due immediately is $75, which is not refundable. Ages 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
