Man killed in lawn-tractor mishap

HERNDON, Pa.

Authorities in central Pennsylvania say an elderly man has died in a lawn-mowing accident.

State police in Northumberland County say 68-year-old Barry Snyder of Jackson Township was mowing his lawn near a ditch when his lawn tractor rolled down the embankment Saturday afternoon.

Police say Snyder was trapped under the mower and died a short time later.

The county coroner said he died at the scene of compressional asphyxiation and ruled the death accidental.
