Focus on children, not scandals
Focus on children, not scandals
Before Rep. Anthony Weiner’s resignation, a great deal of media coverage, argumentative debates in radio and TV talk shows from mainstream leftist media to so-called right-wing media literally exhausted the so-called “Weinergate.” Yes, it is a shame that one of our elected officials has once again fallen off the moral bandwagon. But this is nothing new.
Sad to say, a review of our governmental history has opened a can of worms: Presidents like Thomas Jefferson, John F. Kennedy and Bill Clinton to Senators Larry Craig and John Edwards, Governors Elliot Spitzer, Mark Sanford and Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Congressmen Mark Foley and Anthony Weiner have committed acts of morally grievous nature against the very people they have sworn to serve.
Meanwhile, thousands of American children fall victims to heinous physical, emotional and sexual abuse and neglect on a daily basis, and yet only a few high- profile cases like Caylee Anthony’s murder in 2008 hit the national news headlines. Why this is so boggles my mind!. I recently took the witness stand on behalf of a young patient of mine who has been a victim of covert child abuse and was disappointed to learn that the family court that has been created to protect and uphold her rights is delaying its decision to return her to her rightful custodial parent, the mother. Talk about lost translation of the law.
