Seminar to focus on business start-up

The Youngstown State University chapter of SCORE, Counselors to America’s Small Business, has partnered with the Business & Investment Center of the Public Library of Youngstown & Mahoning County to present a business start-up seminar.

The seminar will take place beginning at 9 a.m. on July 9 at the library’s Poland branch, 311 South Main St.

It will address key topics for those considering starting a business and will cover marketing and financial plans and the technology needed to run a business. Librarians will discuss the library’s resources as it pertains to start-up businesses.

Builders Association membership grows

VIENNA

The Builders Association of Eastern Ohio and Western Pennsylvania reported last week that is has seen an increase in new members in 2011.

“It’s good to see this amount of interest in our association,” said Builders Executive Vice President Kevin Reilly. “We work hard to make membership worthwhile by providing everything from education and training to technical, administrative and marketing support and resources.”

There are more than 150 companies that are members of the Builders Association, which serves 15 skilled trades.

Seminars will cover oil, gas leases

VIENNA

Harrington, Hoppe & Mitchell Ltd.’s seminars for landowners who recently signed oil and gas leases will take place at 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Dutch Village Inn, 150 E. State Route 14.

The seminar, “I signed a lease. Now what? Legal issues for oil and gas lessors,” will cover a range of legal issues in regard to taxes, estate planning, property sales, mineral-rights transfers and other activities.

Admission is free, but reservations are required. Those interested should call 330-744-1111.

HHM lawyers Alan Wenger, George Millich Jr. and Christopher Baronzzi will present the seminar. Wenger recently worked with Columbiana County residents and helped them sign their oil and gas leases.

Workshop at YSU has been canceled

New Markets Initiative, a workshop developed by MAGNET and WIRE-Net, which was previously scheduled for 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Williamson College of Business Conference Center at Youngstown State University, 221 N. Hazel St, has been canceled.
