Phantoms' Mayfield, Saad reach NHL dreams; Pens add another D

Two members of the Phantoms hockey family got their NHL dreams today.

After being mentioned as first-round possibilities all last season and missing that on Friday, Scott Mayfield and Brandon Saad didn't have to wait around too long in the second round.

Mayfield, who played defense for the Phantoms the last two seasons, was the 4th pick today in Round 2, heading to the New York Islanders. NHL.com just did a feature on Mayfield.

Saad, a suburban Pittsburgh native, played for the Phantoms two seasons ago. He was drafted 13th in Round 2 by the Chicago Blackhawks.

The Pittsburgh Penguins picked another defenseman in Round 2. In Round 1 Friday, they selected Joseph Morrow, a defenseman from Sherwood Park, Alberta, with the 23rd overall pick in the first round of the NHL draft.

Today, they used the 24th pick in Round 2 to add Scott Harrington, a defenseman from London, Ontario.
