The only responsibility that the Lynn Kirk students had during their May 31 Field Day was to have fun. Following orders were, from left, Miah Mihalick (top), Jensen Sahli, Devin Andrews, Jessica Fincham (bottom), Hannah Planey, Maryn Petchatsko, and Abby Erdel.

On June 1, all the fun that usually happens inside Lynn Kirk Elementary spilled out into the parking lot and playground during the school’s annual Field Day.

Fun and games were offered in every corner of the school. Each grade traveled between stations and tried out games like balloon toss, sack races, sponge relay and “Stinky Feet,” where students were asked to drop marbles in a pop bottle only using their feet. The kids were free to hang and swing off of Lynn Kirk’s playground equipment, and head to the front of the school to play on inflatable castles and slides provided by Austintown Bounce.

To cool off, a Kona Ice truck was parked in front of the school all day to offer snow cone treats.

Principal Anthony Russo joined his students during the celebration, dressed in a “Lynn Kirk Field Day” T-shirt and shorts instead of his usual suit.

“Field Days have always been a tradition in the Austintown schools and we love to keep it going. Our awesome PTA is completely responsible for making this a relaxing, fun day for the students,” he shared.

The PTA organized the activities and provided T-shirt to each grade, decorated with the signatures of every one of their classmates.

“We couldn’t do this without the full support of our teachers and staff who keep everything moving between the fun stations,” noted PTA organizer Kim King. “It’s all worth it for the kids, who always tell us that today is one of the best days of the year.”
