Jake Lowery went 3-for-5 with a double and two homers to power the Mahoning Valley Scrappers to a 9-0 win over the Auburn Doubledays in a New York-Penn League game Friday night.

Lowery hit his first two homers of his pro career — the first with one on in the third inning, the second with the bases empty in the ninth — and finished with three runs and three RBIs for Mahoning Valley (5-3), which won its first road game of the season. He was a fourth-round draft pick earlier this month out of James Madison.

Aaron Siliga went 3-for-4 with a double and a home run and drove in four runs as the Scrappers rolled up a 9-0 lead entering the bottom of the ninth. Bryson Myles added two hits, scored twice and stole a base.

Kirk Wetmore (5-0) pitched five scoreless innings, striking out eight and giving up two hits and no walks. Wetmore has started the season with 10 scoreless innings. This is Wetmore’s second season with Mahoning Valley; he went 2-7 with a 6.25 ERA last summer.

Enosil Tejeda pitched three hitless innings of shutout relief, striking out four and walking one.

Pedro Encarnacion (0-1) started and got the loss for Auburn (6-2), giving up five runs (all earned) on six hits in 31/3 innings. He also hit two batters.

Hendry Jimenez doubled, tripled, scored a run and drove in a run for the Doubledays. Matthew Skole also had two hits and drove in a run.

The Scrappers will play one more game in Auburn, then return home for a three-game series against State College on Sunday. Scrappers catcher Alex Lavisky was a high school teammate of Spikes pitcher Stetson Allie at Lakewood St. Edward.
