Each year, Kirkmere’s Youth Leadership Team devotes time to helping others in need.
This year was a very successful year for the team, as members raised nearly $2,000 for area agencies and charities.
The successful campaigns included:
Koins for Kids, which raised a total of $1,311 with help from administration and staff.
Tri-county school challenge, which the team won for the second year in a row. The entire school celebrated the victory with a Handels’ ice cream social and a dance party with a disc jockey.
Slipper Day, which celebrated the French tradition of St. Nicholas. Team members filled first-graders’ shoes with treats.
Harvest for Hunger Drive, which benefited Second Harvest Food Bank. It was the team’s fifth consecutive year participating, and team members collected more than 1,600 pounds of food.
March of Dimes Drive, during which the team collected $250 in the Blue Jeans for Babies Campaign.
Down Syndrome Association of the Valley, which has a commitment to celebrate each person’s diversity and intrinsic worth. The team collected $150.
Change for China, in which students raised $165 to benefit the children at Living Tree Orphanage in Yanjiao, Hebei Province, China. The donations will be delivered by Elizabeth Arduin, preschool speech pathologist, who volunteers at the orphanage in the summer.
