Wife of NY pharmacy killings suspect to face judge

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (AP) — The wife of the man accused of killing four people during a robbery for painkillers at a New York pharmacy will face a judge on related charges.

Melinda Brady was expected to appear today in Central Islip, N.Y. She was arrested on charges of robbery and obstructing governmental administration.

Police say Brady and her husband, David Laffer, were high on drugs when they were arrested Wednesday at their home in Medford.

Laffer was arraigned Thursday on first-degree murder charges. A court-appointed attorney entered a not-guilty plea on his behalf.

The bloodshed occurred Sunday at Haven Drugs in Medford.

Brady told reporters Wednesday night that Laffer shot up the pharmacy because he lost his job and she was ill.
