Volant Independence Festival set for Saturday

VOLANT, Pa.
A Volant Independence Festival featuring an interactive Amish Wedding Feast has been set for Saturday.
Reservations and prepayment of the $25 fee are required for the wedding feast, which will take place at the Volant Meeting House. For more information, call 724-533-5515.
Other scheduled events: a Colonial festival at James Creek; flag wreath making all day (purchase of kit required); cornhole games at the Shoppe at River’s Edge, an apple-pie contest at noon at The Kitchen Shoppe; hand-carved wood spirits from 1 to 4 p.m.; face painting for a fee at Miss Scarlett’s; a disc jockey and Hula Hoop, Limbo and water-balloon toss from 2 to 6 p.m. in the Depot Lot; The Doug Butchy Trio from 3 to 5 p.m. at Special-Teas Etc.; and sack and three-legged races at 3 p.m at the Volant Mill.
Amish doughnuts and baked goods will be among treats available for purchase. Shops will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. For more information, visit www.volantshops.com.
