Ohio jailers charged with exposing teen to cold
MANSFIELD, Ohio (AP) — Three current Ohio jailers and one former jailer charged with exposing a teenage inmate to cold temperatures this past winter have pleaded not guilty through their attorneys.
The charges involve an alleged incident in January in which a 17-year-old boy was left in the recreation area of the Richland County Jail with two overhead doors opened.
The Mansfield News-Journal reports that the three current jailers and one former jailer waived their appearances Thursday in Mansfield Municipal Court.
Each is charged with dereliction of duty, interfering with civil rights and endangering children.
The Richland County Sheriff’s Office is also pursuing administrative charges against the three current officers along with four other jailers allegedly involved in the incident.
