DNA experts still to come in Pa. cop death trial
PITTSBURGH (AP) — Prosecutors say they’ve got 11 witnesses left to present in the murder trial for a Pittsburgh man accused of killing three city police officers in 2009.
DNA experts are among the witnesses still to come as the trial of 24-year-old Richard Poplawski enters its fifth day today.
On Thursday, the jury heard testimony about the wounds inflicted on the slain officers and Poplawski’s Internet activity in the hours before he allegedly killed officers Paul Sciullo II, Stephen Mayhle and Eric Kelly.
A prosecution witness also testified that a bullet matching those in one of the officer’s guns matched one lodged in the bulletproof vest Poplawski was allegedly wearing during the gunfight.
Authorities say Poplawski shot officers as they responded to his home following a call about a domestic dispute.
