Youngstown-area natives Oren Kessler and Anthony LaMarca, who is the drummer with nationally known alt-rock acts Dean and Britta and St. Vincent, have started a record label in New York, where they now live.

Two of the bands on the label — In One Wind and The Building — will be in Youngstown tonight for a show at Cedars Lounge, 23 N. Hazel St. The same two bands also performed at Beachland Ballroom in Cleveland on Wednesday night. LaMarca and his brother, Angelo, are members of The Building.

Tonight’s show at Cedars also will include Pictora and Costello and the Cool Minors.

LaMarca said that Kessler was the catalyst for starting the label, called Primary Records. They have 12 bands under contract, representing a broad scope of genres.

“We’re not defined by a single genre but are interested in music with artistic integrity and people who have thought about their music,” said LaMarca.

Primary Records’ first release will be a CD by In One Wind.

LaMarca, who is a Boardman High School graduate, said that St. Vincent will release a new CD in the fall and mount a tour.
