FBI probes Boardman robbery suspect
Staff report
YOUNGSTOWN
The FBI is continuing its investigation of a 34-year-old Boardman man who is under a federal indictment on a bank robbery charge.
The indictment, filed Tuesday in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, accuses Douglas P. Centafanti Jr. of threatening a bank teller at First National Bank, 7025 Market St., with a handgun and taking about $9,392 on June 15.
Centafanti was arraigned in Mahoning County Area Court in Boardman earlier this week on charges stemming from the bank robbery and the June 11 robbery of a Check Into Cash on U.S. Route 224 in Boardman.
In the Check Into Cash robbery, police said the suspect pulled a gun on the clerk and fled in a black Buick, which was later found abandoned and listed as stolen.
Shortly after the Boardman Check Into Cash robbery, an Austintown Check Into Cash was robbed at gunpoint.
Austintown police did confirm that Centafanti is a suspect in that case, but has not been charged.
