FOOD SALES AND DINNERS


THURSDAY

St. Michael Orthodox Church, 125 Steel St., Youngstown, serves homemade Chinese lunches from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursdays. This week’s menu will feature soy sauce pork loin or vegetable lo mein. The cost of the meal is $6. No reservations are necessary.

FRIDAY

Sons of the American Legion, Mahoning Valley Squadron 15, 35 Cortland St., Poland, in conjunction with Celebrate Poland, will have its third annual chicken dinner from 6 to 9 p.m. The menu will feature a half-chicken, two sides and bread. Beverages and takeouts will be available. Tickets cost $8 and may be purchased at the door or by calling 330-757-8722. Proceeds will benefit various programs of Squadron 15.

Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church, 53 Laird Ave., Youngstown, will serve fish dinners from 3:30 to 7 p.m. at the church hall. The menu will consist of baked or fried Icelandic cod or fried haddock; sides of Spanish rice, haluski, macaroni and cheese, french fries or string beans (choose two); coleslaw or applesauce; bread and butter; and coffee or tea. The cost is $9 for adults and $4.50 for children. Dessert will be an additional $1.50. Containers will be provided for takeouts. Orders will be accepted from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 330-792-1005.

SATURDAY

Lake Milton Presbyterian Church will have its annual rummage sale and chicken barbecue. The rummage sale will take place from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and the barbecue will be from noon to 6 p.m. The menu will consist of half a chicken, parsley potatoes, a choice of side dishes, roll and butter, homemade dessert and a beverage. The donation will be $8 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. Eat in or carry out. For free flea-market space call 330-654-3396.

North Lima Mennonite Church, 90 Mennonite Drive, will sponsor a breakfast buffet from 7 to 10 a.m. For a donation, patrons can enjoy an all-you-can-eat breakfast or brunch. Items on the buffet will include eggs, pancakes, french toast, sausage, potatoes, homemade rolls, sausage gravy and biscuits, peppers and onions, coffee, orange juice and other beverages. St. James Episcopal Church, 7640 Glenwood Ave., Boardman, will have a free community meal from 4 to 5:30 p.m.

SUNDAY

Sts. Cyril & Methodius Church, 252 E. Wood St., Youngstown, is sponsoring a spaghetti dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The cost for adults is $6.50, and for children 12 and under, it’s $4.50. All proceeds benefit the church’s repair fund, to pay for the elevator and for restoration of stained glass windows.

St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church, 7782 Glenwood Ave., Boardman, will have a spaghetti dinner from noon to 3 p.m. The cost is $7 for adults and $3 for children. The menu will include meatballs, salad, bread, pastries and coffee. Takeouts will be available. For information call (330) 726-8573.

TAKING ORDERS

Happy Hearts Jr. Croatian Tamburitzans are having a summer strudel sale. Strudels are sold frozen, along with instructions, and ready to bake. They are hand-pulled dough and come in either apple or cheese. The cost is $8 each. Orders must be placed by Thursday for pickup between 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. June 28 at the Croatian Home, 3200 Vestal Road, on the West Side of Youngstown. Gibson Heights Second Presbyterian Church, 755 E. Dewey Ave., Youngstown, will serve a free community meal from 4 to 6 p.m. June 29. Everyone is welcome. The free meals are offered the last Wednesday of each month.
