BOARDMAN

Cathy Lou Pokrivnak has been selected the 2011 Woman of the Year for the Youngstown Charter Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association.

As the recipient, she will model at the ABWA Annual Fashion Show, which will take place Sept. 25.

Mrs. Pokrivnak, who is president of ABWA’s Youngstown chapter and chairwoman of the ABWA Council for the tri-county area, was honored in May with a dinner at Johnny’s Restaurant in Boardman.

Mrs. Pokrivnak has been employed by Youngstown State University since 1984. She is an administrative assistant in the records office. She also works with Protestant Family Services as chairwoman of the Missions Committee, is a trustee on a local condominium board, and is an advocate on behalf of special-needs children.

The winner of the 2011 YSU Distinguished Service Award, she was also a 2010 Athena Award nominee.

Mrs. Pokrivnak lives in Boardman with her husband, John. They have four children and seven grandchildren.

The ABWA Youngstown Charter Chapter was founded in 1954. Since then, that chapter and others have donated more than a combined total of $500,000 for local college students. The ABWA Council’s Annual Fall Fashion Show helps fund the scholarships.

The fashion show will take place at Mr. Anthony’s in Boardman. For information or reservations, contact Mary Brown at 330-286-5337 or marykbrown@zoominternet.net.
