Diaspora discussions: At a recent meeting of the Youngstown Rotary Club, speakers were Jim Cosseler and Rotarian John Slanina, both of the Youngstown Business Incubator. Their topic was “Tracking and Engaging the Youngstown Diaspora for Economic and Service Opportunities.” Diaspora is the Greek word for residents who move away from a community and either return or still have connections to the community. A study was done by the Youngstown Incubator to indicate that this Diaspora effect is happening and will be a starting block for business revival in the Valley. From left to right are Slanina, Rotarian John Fahnert, program chairman, and Cosseler. On another note, the Rotary club welcomed Bob Calvert, assistant vice president of business banking with First National Bank in downtown Youngstown, as a new member at the meeting.
